My radio experience began in high school in 1971, producing a weekly program focused on school activities and events. That meant hanging out at the local radio station, and that is where the interest kicked in.

I spent three months at Thief River Falls Area Vocational Technical School to learn broadcasting and then began an internship that really taught me about radio.

Over the years, I have done talk shows, sports play by play, even called radio bingo at one radio station. In 2000 however, I had gotten to the point where I was not having as much fun and I looked for something else to do, and applied for an opening at Red River Farm Network in Grand Forks ND. I started as a “radio” guy reading farm news and markets and developed an intense interest in everything to do with agriculture.

That is the short version of how I got here.

I have mainly worked in smaller communities, beginning at KROX Crookston Mn and moving on to KBRF Fergus Falls, WQPM Princeton and wrapping up my Minnesota work at KVOX in Moorhead.

In 1981 my family, including a new born daughter made the trek to Minot ND which eventually led to work at a number of radio stations, ending at K-Hit 97. In early 1988 the little family had grown and moved to Bismarck, then to Brainerd MN and back to Bismarck.

I moved on from Bismarck to Grand Forks in the winter of 1995/96, just before my passion for agriculture got triggered (certainly there is plenty of farming going on in the Valley)

My passions include books, theatre and cycling and those follow the best part of my life, family. I have five kids living in Bismarck(4) and Wishek(1), one stepson in Emerado ND, my wife Kerri and four grandsons.

Life does not get any better than that.
